Since many social lodging were given to Asiatic South-eastern fugitives in the 1970s, there’s a high density of Eastern inhabitants in Paris’area #13. These came not only from China; there are actually 30,000 inhabitants from about 10 different nations, i.e. Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Taiwan. Fugitives from these countries let their parents or friend come to join them. An autonomous world was then re-created, in which you can eat, refresh, relax without going out of the community. The area is now full of restaurants and supermarkets with their typical neon ideograms (for example the Tang Brothers, in 44, Rue d’Ivry, where anyone who wishes to taste Chinese food goes shopping). When the new Chinese year begins the streets (especially Rue de Choisy) are places for celebrations where people always get together at the beginning of February.
