Paris’ area #2 results from the extending of the city during the 15th and the 16th centuries. The first urban houses date back to the 14th century anyway. The fence belonging to Charles V (1371 – 1380) extended to Rue d’Aboukir. In the XVIth century the city extends to the present extent of the large boulevards, which is Louis XIII’s area (1617 – 1643). In its main buildings there’s the Stock Exchange and the National Library.
