This church, originally devoted to St. Vincent, was built around the 6th century and its present name derives from the magnificence of the basilica, rich in marbles and with wonderful mosaic floorings.
It has a particular roof covered with bronze so that it shines in sunny days. The church has been often restored from the 9th century till nowadays.
