The square where the Pantheon rises was planned in 1700 as extension of the Saint Genevieve church in the square in front of it.
Desired by Luigi XV, it was used as burial place of illustrious characters who were somehow tied to the French revolution: Marata, Voltaire, Rousseau...
During the following century it has been modified many times until its present appearance. Its 1,000 square meters inside space has an impressive magnificence.
