That’s Paris’ symbol, named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel. It was built in a record time of less than 2 years, from 1887 to 1889, for the celebrations of a world fair for the centenary of the French Revolution. It was opened on March 31st,1889.
An average of 5 millions and a half tourists visit it every year. The tower is 304 metres high and its weight exceeds 10 thousand tons!
